Shalimar of India is known for its cozy atmosphere and friendly service, with an extensive menu that showcases various Indian dishes. However, authenticity has been a point of contention, as several customers feel the food does not always reflect genuine Indian cuisine. Despite some negative experiences, many patrons praise specific dishes and the warmth of the staff, making it a popular choice for Indian food in the area.

" The first time I visited Shalimar, I was drawn in by the inviting decor and ambiance. However, after trying several different dishes, I felt disappointed with consistency. For instance, the Chicken Tikka was lovely - the marinade was perfect. But when I tried their Biryani the next time, it was bland and tasted nothing like the authentic version I adore. I appreciate the charm and cleanliness of the place, but it seems to lack in food variety and quality. " (*Curated Review*)
" I visited Shalimar of India last Saturday, and I must say the experience was delightful! The service was incredibly friendly; the owner greeted us with a warm smile. We decided to try the Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan. I was a bit hesitant since I've had poor Indian food before, but this was leagues ahead in flavor. The spices were perfect, and honestly, I’m left craving more! I’ll be back for sure! " (*Curated Review*)
" As someone who has lived in India, I have quite a fondness for authentic Indian food, so I was hopeful about Shalimar. My experience was a rollercoaster. While the service was friendly, the food was inconsistent. I ordered their Chicken Biryani, but I was shocked when the dish arrived; it felt more like a Japanese fried rice than an authentic biryani! The seasoning was all off; the rice was sticky, and there were green peas sprinkled throughout, which was not something I expected. There was no depth of flavor at all! However, I enjoyed their Paratha and the Mango Lassi was delicious. I may give them another try, but only for takeout. Overall, I felt disappointed but hopeful. " (*Curated Review*)
" My husband and I were looking for a cozy spot to enjoy dinner after a day of exploring, and Shalimar of India did not disappoint. I ordered the Chicken Korma, while he had the Lamb Curry. Both dishes had rich flavors and the spice levels hit just right. I especially loved the garlic naan – it was fluffy and cooked perfectly! What we appreciated most was the attentive service; everyone seemed genuinely happy to help. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area and in the mood for Indian cuisine! " (*Curated Review*)
" We had a decent experience at Shalimar last week. The service was commendable and the staff were courteous. We tried their Paneer Butter Masala and the chicken curry; both tasted good, though a tad too mild for our spice-loving palate. It’s a nice spot if you’re in the area and craving Indian food. I would say it's worth a visit, especially if you prefer milder flavors. " (*Curated Review*)
" Having heard good things about Shalimar of India, we decided to include this restaurant in our itinerary for our New England trip. While the ambiance was cozy, I was let down by the Biryani. It lacked authenticity and was way too oily – more like a fried rice with some chicken thrown in. I wanted to love it, considering their reputation, but the flavors were not where they should be. Service was fast, and the staff were delightful though, which is why I'm giving it two stars instead of one. I don’t think I’d return unless they revamp their menu. " (*Curated Review*)
" What can I say – Shalimar has been a part of our family tradition for years! We visit at least a couple of times each winter, and the service always gives us the feeling of being at home. The Chicken Vindaloo is my favorite; the perfect blend of spicy and flavorful. The naan is excellent, too! I’ll keep coming back for years to come. It’s a local treasure that’s worth every penny.
