" If you want a taste of real Indian culture, Shalimar is a beautiful representation! The family that runs this spot is wonderful, and you'll feel their passion for the cuisine. Though I did face an issue with one of my dishes being wrong, they rectified it quickly with a smile. The Chicken Masala was superb, but I'd advise avoiding the Veg Biryani. " I am a true Indian food lover, having grown up in New Delhi, I hold a high standard for Indian cuisine. The chicken korma I had here was surprisingly delicious! The balance of spices was evident and the portion size was satisfying enough to fill me up. Not to forget their delightful naan which complemented the meal wonderfully. The environment was quiet, an excellent hideaway from the hustle and bustle outside. Service was prompt and friendly. If I find my way back to North Conway, I won’t hesitate to revisit Shalimar! " Finally got to try Shalimar after hearing the buzz! It didn’t live up to all the hype for me, but it wasn’t bad either. The service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. However, the food needed more punch. I ordered a spiced lamb dish, and the spices were not as evident. I believe they cater too much to non-Indian tastes. " All I can say is WOW! From the moment we stepped into Shalimar, we felt welcomed. The service was outstanding! I have to give a shoutout to their Mango Lassi - the best I have ever had! I tried the Lamb Curry, and the flavors were incredible. It was rich, and the meat was cooked to perfection. The garlic naan had just the right amount of garlic, soft and warm. " After hearing mixed reviews about Shalimar of India, I finally decided to visit with family. The first impression was good; the place is clean and cozy. We ordered a variety of dishes: Veg Biryani, Palak Paneer, and Samosas. While the samosas were nice, I found the biryani lacking in depth. The spices seemed a bit off, kind of like they were modified for American tastes. The ambiance was soothing, and service was attentive. " Having heard good things about Shalimar of India, we decided to include this restaurant in our itinerary for our New England trip. While the ambiance was cozy, I was let down by the Biryani. It lacked authenticity and was way too oily – more like a fried rice with some chicken thrown in. I wanted to love it, considering their reputation, but the flavors were not where they should be. " What can I say – Shalimar has been a part of our family tradition for years! We visit at least a couple of times each winter, and the service always gives us the feeling of being at home. The Chicken Vindaloo is my favorite; the perfect blend of spicy and flavorful. The naan is excellent, too! I’ll keep coming back for years to come. It’s a local treasure that’s worth every penny.
