" I visited Mar Y Tierra last weekend with some friends for dinner and it turned out to be a mixed experience. We started with the shrimp cocktail, which initially tasted good, but as we dug in, we realized the shrimp weren’t the freshest. The flavors didn't really pop; they were quite bland, and there was a noticeable lack of accompanying sauce. The atmosphere was decent, though, with a cozy setup and friendly staff. It’s a shame that the food didn’t match the service. I suppose if you’re in a pinch, this could work, but don’t set your expectations too high. " (*Curated Review*)
" I went with a group of friends and was excited to try their seafood. I'm not one to usually write reviews, but I felt compelled. While the seafood soup had a pleasing look, the taste was a complete letdown—tasted almost like a water soup. The shrimp was mushy and bland, which was really disappointing. The atmosphere was too loud for me to enjoy our meal completely, as the tables were packed with people, and the servers seemed overwhelmed. I guess I wouldn’t recommend it based solely on what I had. " I initially had high hopes for Mar Y Tierra considering its reputation. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the first thing I noticed was the odd smell. It didn’t seem clean. I ordered a seafood platter, and it was served lukewarm but looked appetizing at a glance. As soon as I took a bite, I found the shrimp to be chewy and old, which wasn't very pleasant. The water to drink was refreshing, though! Good service in terms of staff friendliness, but it can't compensate for the food quality I experienced. Disappointing overall! " (*Curated Review*)
" One of the best seafood places I've been to! I love visiting Mar Y Tierra for their shrimp cocktails, they hit every time! They have an amazing family atmosphere, and it’s perfect for gatherings. The staff is usually attentive, and the food is always served fairly quickly. Although some dishes lack flavor at times, there’s nothing that the accompanying sauces won’t fix. It feels great to have affordable eats without sacrificing quality! " (*Curated Review*)
" Love the promotion options! I went with my family for a Sunday meal, and we hit the jackpot on the specials. The food was decent, but definitely not gourmet. I’ve had better, but it was nice and filling without the exorbitant prices. The service could use a little polish as we had to catch the waiter multiple times for our drink orders, but eventually, everything was brought to us. I'd consider coming back for the family deals. " After hearing good things about this place, I finally decided to give it a shot. The staff was friendly, but the service was quite slow for my liking. When the food finally arrived, I was a bit disappointed with the shrimp broth. It was practically flavorless and didn’t have the freshest ingredients. I expected so much more from an establishment that specializes in seafood. Maybe it was just an off day, but I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon. " (*Curated Review*)
" Disappointed, I had such expectations. The menu was tempting, but the reality was subpar. Ordered the seafood soup, and it literally had no flavor—not even a hint of whatever seafood was meant to be there. The shrimp were overcooked and honestly, I’ve had packaged soups that tasted better. The waiter didn’t seem to care much about our needs either, which didn’t help. The ambiance is sleepy, and I won’t be rushing back. " (*Curated Review*)
