" My wife and I visited Il Brutto after hearing rave reviews, and we were excited to try it out. The atmosphere was lovely, and they really pay attention to every detail in the setting. However, while the food was good, I don't think it lived up to the hype. The pasta was perhaps a tad undercooked, and the portion was quite small for the price we paid. Service was friendly but a little slow, making us feel neglected at times. Overall, we enjoyed our evening but likely won't be rushing back quite yet. " (*Curated Review*)
" I’ve tried Il Brutto several times, and the experiences have been on par with authenticity. Even as someone who spent a few months living in Italy, I felt transported back to my favorite Italian settings. Recently, I enjoyed the Fiorentina; while the flavors were great, the cut could have been larger for the price. The ambiance makes the place feel lively but cozy enough for intimate dining experiences. Overall, highly recommend for Italian food enthusiasts! " (*Curated Review*)
" The pizza at Il Brutto is hands down one of the best in Austin! With a slightly charred crust and fresh toppings, it’s perfect for warm evenings outside. I also enjoyed the seasonal salad, which was crunchy and refreshing. Though the price for some dishes may seem steep, the flavors trump the size! The wait staff was very friendly, making the time spent there enjoyable. There’s no doubt I’ll be a repeat customer! " (*Curated Review*)
" Solid experience at Il Brutto, but it’s not without its flaws. While I loved the atmosphere, buzzing with lots of patrons, the food left me wanting. The rigatoni I had was delicious, but my friend's selection was a bit overcooked. The portion size was also on the smaller side relative to the price. Service was friendly enough, but they seemed stretched thin that evening. I’d give it another shot, but perhaps during a quieter time. " (*Curated Review*)
" Il Brutto truly exemplifies authentic Italian dining! The ingredients are sourced fresh, and you can really taste that quality in dishes like the sea urchin pasta, which was a delightful surprise. The atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, perfect for a date night. We had a great conversation with our server who suggested a wine that paired perfectly with our meal. Another plus was the nice outdoor seating area, which was lovely on a spring evening. You'll definitely have to save room for their gelato, which felt like a luxurious finish. Highly recommend! " After hearing so much buzz about Il Brutto, I finally had to check it out myself. The ambiance was nice but what really made an impression was the food. I ordered the potato gnocchi, which was fluffy and delightful. The tiramisu is a must-try – by far the best dessert I had in a while. Our waiter was knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations as well. I left wanting to try more of their dishes; I’ll be back soon! " (*Curated Review*)
" I was blown away by the experience at Il Brutto! From the moment I walked in, the beautiful décor set the stage for a wonderful evening. My friends and I decided to try a little bit of everything, including the pasta and wood-fired pizzas. The lamb ragu was absolutely mouth-watering, and I can't believe how fresh everything tasted. Our server was knowledgeable and eager to recommend dishes to try, which really enhanced our experience. As for dessert, the tiramisu was the best I've had in Austin! I top it off with a limoncello shot on the house. Can't wait to go back! " (*Curated Review*)
