" While I had heard mixed reviews, I decided to check out New China for myself. It's small and cozy, and the service was friendly—just the kind of local place I enjoy. However, I was really let down by the crab rangoons which were filled with mashed potatoes! That's a huge no for me. The chicken dishes I tried were excessively sweet too, and I didn't see any of the garlic flavors I was hoping for. It’s clear they need to bring the food back to a genuine style to please locals and visitors alike. Date: 2024-08-22 11:15:00 " (*Curated Review*)
" New China isn't what I expected. The authentic Chinese flavors are masked by excessive sweetness. The crab rangoons were an absolute letdown, and the egg rolls were too greasy. On the bright side, the owner was incredibly welcoming and friendly. If only the food could match the warmth of the hospitality. I’d love to see this place grow and improve; it has so much potential! " I stumbled upon New China while exploring the town, but I have to admit, I was underwhelmed. The lo mein arrived with ramen noodles, which was a strange substitution. I understand some places put their twist on things, but I was hoping for the real deal. The portion sizes were decent, and the owner was incredibly welcoming. I think some of the sweeter dishes like the wonton soup were a bit bizarre for my taste. They definitely need to work on the authenticity of their recipes to make it worth returning. I will remain neutral about recommending it. Date: 2024-04-04 16:20:30 " (*Curated Review*)
" Honestly, I was really excited to try this place, especially since I heard they have great egg rolls. I placed my order and when it arrived, I was shocked by how much they resembled greasy pasty logs. The flavors were off, really greasy and not at all fresh tasting. The general Tso’s was oddly sweet and didn’t taste like the usual dish I expect. On a positive note, the owner was very friendly and offered good suggestions, but the food just couldn't make the cut. I would suggest they refine their recipes to attract more clientele. Posting time: 2024-02-20 19:45:00 " (*Curated Review*)
" I had such high hopes for New China after reading some positive reviews, but my experience was quite the disappointment. The crab rangoons were filled with what seemed to be mashed potatoes instead of cream cheese and crab. It felt very misleading to advertise them as traditional crab rangoons. The service was friendly, and they were polite throughout, which salvaged some parts of the visit. However, the food quality really overshadowed that aspect. I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon. I would recommend trying elsewhere if you’re looking for authentic Chinese fare. Date: 2024-01-15 14:36:12 " (*Curated Review*)
" I have to say I was very disappointed with the food. I’ve tried many Chinese restaurants and was hoping this would be a great addition to the local options. The egg rolls were greasy, and the crab rangoon tasted more like mashed potatoes than crab and cream cheese. I spoke to the owner, who was friendly and welcoming, but it didn't make up for the food that was lacking. If they offered a more authentic menu, I think they’d attract more customers. Will be looking for better options elsewhere. Posting time: 2024-05-20 10:30:00 " (*Curated Review*)
" The first time I visited New China, I was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality. The owner is very welcoming and there's a homey vibe in this small establishment. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to those initial impressions. The chicken dishes tasted overly sweet, and some items did not resemble what you'd typically expect at an authentic Chinese restaurant. For instance, instead of traditional dumplings, I received oddly flavored wannabe dumplings, that left me with a strange aftertaste. I’m unsure if I’ll go back as there are better options nearby.
