" Had a disappointing experience at El Tejate. The food was subpar compared to what I had been told. The Tlayuda was dry and lacked seasoning. It took a long time to get seated, and even longer for our orders to come out. To top it off, I felt that the staff could use some training on customer service norms. " El Tejate is a unique gem in town with its specialized Oaxacan offerings! I loved the Tacos de Cecina and the Tlayudas were fantastic too. Fresh ingredients really shone through. However, I do recommend arriving without high expectations for service; it can be hit or miss. The atmosphere is cozy and decorated in an interesting way. " El Tejate is definitely a new favorite of ours! The food is incredibly flavorful, reminding us of our vacations in Oaxaca. I particularly fell in love with the Tlayuda; it's so large and generously topped! That said, service was slow, and it took a while to receive our drinks. The staff was attentive and made sure we felt welcomed. The only hiccup was a slight delay in getting our food, but it was understandable given the busy evening.
