Mexican Restaurant $$ 3.8 (444)

Fernando's Cafe & Cantina is noted for its warm atmosphere, but it struggles with consistency in food quality, service, and genuine authenticity of its Mexican cuisine. Many patrons feel that the food lacks the authentic flavors expected from a Mexican restaurant, though some dishes do resonate positively with their nostalgic tastes.

" I visited Fernando's recently to celebrate a friend's birthday. The ambiance was quite pleasant, but that's where the positives ended. I ordered a chicken fajita, and what came to the table was decidedly unappetizing. The chicken was dry and the veggies were limp, as if they had been sitting out for a while. On top of that, we waited an eternity for our drinks. Positive note: the waitress was kind and tried her best which was appreciated. Concern over the food quality might keep me from coming back. " Had been wanting to check out Fernando's for some time. Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed after what I hoped would be a fun casual night out. The salsa wasn’t fresh, but the chips were decent. My burrito was watery, and I didn’t feel satisfied at all by the meal. The service had potential but was hindered by inexperience. I know I have humble expectations, but it wasn’t enough to win me over. " (*Curated Review*)

" Had dinner here last week. The service was okay but also very slow. It took over 30 minutes to receive our appetizers, and when they finally arrived, the dishes were lukewarm. We enjoyed the chips but they were kind of stale. I really wanted to enjoy the meal after that wait but everything seemed to fall flat. The location has great potential, yet, with food like this, it's hard to overlook the lack of quality. " (*Curated Review*)

" Once again disappointed at Fernando’s. The last few visits have definitely not met my expectations. The salsa tasted watered down, and I found myself wishing it had more zing. Everything I ordered seemed overly loaded with cheese and not enough of the authentic taste I anticipated. The portions are decent, but the quality diminishes. The atmosphere is still lively, but if your food doesn't taste good, it overshadows every positive aspect. I don't think it’s worth a visit anymore. " (*Curated Review*)

" Finally made it to Fernando's, and it was a mixed bag for sure. The tacos tasted alright, though they were overshadowed by how overloaded they were with cheese. Came here expecting a more authentic experience, but it was more Tex-Mex than Mexico. Our server was sweet and attentive, but the food took far too long to arrive, which was frustrating. I’d give it one more shot, but I'd need to hear that the food is better next time. " (*Curated Review*)

" I ate at Fernando’s last week for the first time. The environment was lovely, and the decor helped set a cozy tone. However, the chicken enchiladas I had were seriously lacking flavor and did not fulfill the authentic experience I was looking for. The rice was bland, and the service was somewhat forgetful. Not the worst experience ever, but when it comes down to it, I wouldn’t want to make the trek back here for a bit of stale food. They need to step things up if they want me back. " This restaurant used to be one of my favorites in town, but after my last visit, I'm reconsidering. The taquitos were overcooked and so greasy I could hardly enjoy them. I will say that the ambiance was still cozy, but it’s just not enough to make up for the poor food quality. There needs to be serious work done on the menu and food preparation to maintain a customer base. I'm not sure I’ll return anytime soon. " (*Curated Review*)
