Chinese Inn-Nicholson presents a mix of dining experiences. While some customers appreciate the large portion sizes and reasonable prices, there are concerns about the authenticity of certain dishes and quality control. The restaurant has garnered praise for its friendly service, but some diners noted inconsistencies with food quality, particularly regarding freshness and flavor. Overall, it seems to offer comfort food rather than authentic Chinese cuisine.

" I'm not sure if I would return to Chinese Inn. The chicken teriyaki was very generic and lacked the distinct authentic taste I love. Portions are generous, however, but it doesn't save a dish that misses the mark flavor-wise. The service was acceptable, though they could work on the overall ambiance of the restaurant to make it more inviting. Those who love heavily sauced dishes may enjoy what they offer, but I prefer foods with a proper depth of flavor. " (*Curated Review*)
" I recently visited Chinese Inn-Nicholson for the first time and was quite impressed with the portion sizes! I ordered shrimp fried rice and it was enough to feed two people. However, I expected a bit more flavor from the dish. The service was friendly, but the ambiance felt a little dingy, making it hard to fully enjoy my meal. Check it out for the portions, but be prepared for a rather average experience overall. " (*Curated Review*)
" Chinese Inn has been my go-to since moving to Baton Rouge! Although it's primarily a takeout spot, I think their shrimp fried rice is some of the best I've ever had! They pack it with shrimp, and it's seasoned perfectly. I do wish they had a better dine-in atmosphere; it feels neglected sometimes. Service has been hit or miss, but the food is always worth the trip. Will keep coming back for that fried rice! " (*Curated Review*)
" I was so excited to try this place as I’d heard a lot of great things, but sadly it wasn’t as expected. Upon entering, the restaurant itself felt quite blah; the decor looked outdated. My order of fried rice was just okay at best. The portion sizes are considerable! It’s tough when you want authentic flavors in a dish but end up tasting the same as any chain restaurant. Service was friendly, but I left fairly disappointed. " (*Curated Review*)
" What a wonderful spot for those late-night cravings! The staff was super friendly and accommodating even though it was almost closing time. I ordered the shrimp and lobster sauce, and while it was a decent dish, the shrimp were overcooked. The rice was absolutely delicious though, so it made up for some of the lackluster flavors. I'll be back, but hopefully with some different menu items in mind next time! " (*Curated Review*)
" I've been coming to Chinese Inn for years, and I've seen a lot of ups and downs in their food quality. The last time I visited, I ordered their sweet and sour chicken, which used to be one of my favorites, but it was overly sauced and lacked the crispy texture I enjoyed. The portions are still generous, and the staff are always accommodating, but I hope they work on their consistency! It's still my go-to place for comfort food, though. " (*Curated Review*)
" Chinese Inn is what I'd call an acquired taste. The décor leaves much to be desired, but their fried rice? Absolutely on point! With every mouthful packed with generous shrimp and flavor, it has a much deeper flavor profile compared to most places. That being said, my experiences haven't been the same with their noodle dishes. Visibility of freshness can wobble based on timing. Come for the fried rice, but go elsewhere for noodles.
