China Star

Chinese Restaurant $ 4.1 (155)

China Star is a mixed bag when it comes to authenticity and service. While some customers appreciate the generous portions and friendly service, others have noted that the food quality and authenticity leave much to be desired. The restaurant seems to struggle with consistency, impacting overall customer satisfaction.

" China Star has been a staple in our household for a while now. Their sweet and sour chicken is so tasty; the sauce is just the right balance of sweet and tangy. The fried rice is always fresh and comes loaded with vegetables. I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of ordering from here. It’s affordable and the portions are generous. We frequently do takeout and love the over-the-phone ordering process as it makes it very convenient. Will definitely continue to return for more meals! I always recommend this place to anyone looking for great Chinese food. I would say the ambiance could use some work, but if you’re looking for quality takeout, this is the best around! " Honestly, I was pretty disappointed after I heard so many great things about this place. I ordered the General Tso's chicken, hoping for that signature spice and crunch, but what arrived was soggy and tasted more sugary than spicy. I also felt like the service was not up to par – I waited longer than expected for my food, and they weren't very attentive during the process. The ambiance leaves much to desire, seeming very much like a takeout spot. After this experience, I think I’ll be sticking to my other favorite places in town for Chinese cuisine. It’s sad because I was really looking forward to trying something new, but I think I’ll just chalk this one up to expectations not met. " (*Curated Review*)

" I wanted to love this place based on recommendations but walked away feeling underwhelmed. The sesame chicken was overly sweet, almost like it was meant for a different palate. While the fried rice was okay, it lacked the richness I expected. Additionally, the staff at the counter seemed rushed and didn’t pay attention to my order. I’d rather have encountered more warmth in their service. The food’s not bad, but I need more from a Chinese restaurant. The prices are decent, and the portions are generous, but if I can’t enjoy my meal fully, I might have to explore my options elsewhere. I’ll give it another try in the future, hoping for a better experience. " (*Curated Review*)

" Being a native to the area, I can honestly say I’ve tried every Chinese restaurant. When it comes to China Star, my expectations were high based on a few friends’ feedback. They raved about the crab rangoon, and I have to agree, it was incredible – the crispiness on the outside with that creamy filling was heavenly. However, my main dish, the beef lo mein, didn’t hit home like I hoped. It was decent, but lacked the authentic taste I’m familiar with. Service was swift, but I personally prefer a more engaging experience when dining, even if it’s takeout. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but I’m not sure I would call it the best in town. " The first time I tried China Star, I was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the mandarin chicken, and it was phenomenal! The chicken was cooked just right and had that perfect balance of flavor without being overwhelming. I also sampled their crab rangoon, which had a delightful crunch and sweet cream cheese inside. The service was pleasant, as the staff seemed genuinely happy to see us. The only downside was that their establishment could use a little cleaning; the tables were quite sticky. Overall, I'm definitely coming back for more! If you haven't tried it, make sure to stop by. Truly delicious Chinese cuisine! " (*Curated Review*)
