Mei Hua appears to be a favored spot for Chinese cuisine in La Paz, though authenticity is a mixed bag according to different patrons. While many appreciate the freshness and flavor of the dishes, some reviews indicate that it may not represent traditional Chinese flavors authentically. Overall, the restaurant garners positive feedback for its friendly service and sizable portions.

" Had a late lunch at Mei Hua after hearing great things from a coworker. It was very busy, and for a reason! The sweet and sour chicken grabbed my attention — it looked fantastic on the plate and tasted even better! The quality was surprising given the amount of traffic the restaurant gets. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food served as well. The wait for our food was longer than expected, but I was happy with everything I ordered. " (*Curated Review*)
" I am not a fan of Chinese food, but my friends insisted on checking this restaurant out. Surprisingly, I found the chicken chow mein surprisingly flavorful! It had enough spices that I enjoyed it, and the serving sizes were decent. The atmosphere was really warm and inviting, perfect for a gathering. I might not become a fan of Chinese food, but I would be more than willing to visit Mei Hua again for a meal with friends. " (*Curated Review*)
" Visited Mei Hua on a busy Friday night and was amazed by the number of people dining in. You really get a sense of the local love for this place! The service was a bit slow given how packed the restaurant was, but the staff remained pleasant throughout. We started with spring rolls and both the fried rice and sweet and sour pork as main courses. Although the flavors were enjoyable, they felt a tad Americanized rather than authentic. Still, if you're looking for a fun, casual dining experience, this place is great. " (*Curated Review*)
" Mei Hua’s become a regular stop for my friends and I! We love the variety on the menu! The dumplings were delicious, and the kung pao chicken was spicy just like I like it. However, I can't put my finger on it - something about the flavors feels a bit off from what I've had before; perhaps too much sugar? Service is always quick and friendly, though, which makes up for it. If you want a quick Chinese fix, this is a good spot. " (*Curated Review*)
" I went to Mei Hua with my friends based on the glowing reviews. The service was efficient, but the food was disappointing. I ordered the General Tso's chicken, and while the portion was large, the flavor did not match what I was used to. It felt like it was toned down for a broad audience rather than aiming for authentic taste. It’s suitable for casual dining if that’s what you seek, but I personally expected more. " Mei Hua has become my favourite go-to place! The dishes they serve are always fresh and generously portioned. Their wontons are a must-try! I must say that the flavors are dynamic but not very traditional. If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, you may be a bit disappointed—Mei Hua feels more like a fusion experience. Regardless, it's become part of my regular dining rotation. " (*Curated Review*)
" As a Chinese food enthusiast, I was looking forward to trying Mei Hua based on all the rave reviews. The ambiance was simple yet clean, and the staff was friendly from the moment we walked in. However, I felt the dishes were lacking in authenticity. The rice was slightly overcooked, and the flavors were too bland for my liking. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I expected more when everyone claimed it was the best in town. I might return for a quick meal but wouldn't recommend it for a true Chinese experience.
